Materials Needed for One Standard 5-Yard Quilt

  • Quilt Top: Five 1-yard cuts of 44/45" wide fabric
  • Backing Fabric: 5 yards of 44/45" wide fabric
  • Batting
  • Sewing thread to match fabrics
  • Fabric should measure at least 42" wide after selvages are removed
  • Economy binding is cut from the fabrics; add ½ yard for double-fold binding
  • ¼" seam allowance used throughout

For Queen/King Topper Enlargements

  • Two yards each of the five fabrics
  • 9 yards of backing fabric
