Selecting a Pattern for Your Charity Quilt
You really cannot go wrong in selecting any of our 3-Yard or 5-Yard quilt patterns. Known for their versatility, clear instructions, efficient cutting methods, straightforward construction, and simple fabric selection strategy, our 3-Yard and 5-Yard quilt patterns make it easy to complete beautiful quilts that recipients will treasure.
You're sure to find a pattern you'll love making and feel good about donating. Size is important. For kids, 3-Yard quilts are fantastic. We even have our 3-Yard Quilts for Kids book, featuring patterns that finish a bit smaller. We'll highlight a few of them below. For Quilts of Valor, a 5-Yard quilt pattern makes sense as there is a minimum size. Check the guidelines we provided for each charity. Remember, any 3-Yard or 5-Yard pattern can be modified to suit your needs. You can easily enlarge a quilt by adding borders or extra rows and columns, or reduce the size by removing borders.

For Quilts of Valor, fabrics do not have to be patriotic prints. However, there are many wonderful patriotic fabric collections that honor service members and celebrate their dedication to our country.
Consider the recipient's age and interests when selecting fabrics. While playful novelty prints are perfect for younger children, teenagers often appreciate geometrics, nature-inspired prints, bold florals, and sophisticated color palettes.
For adults receiving medical treatments or recovering from difficult circumstances, charity quilts in pretty color palettes with pops of print can be especially uplifting.
